I have WIndows7 and I just Downloaded a program thats in a .dmg file. is there a free program I can use to ope?

I've tried to open said file a few times and every time there is a pop-up that shows up asking if i want to search the web for a program to open it but I cant find one. any help would be greatly appreciated
