Setup.exe error, how to fix?

ok, today i was trying to install curse client, from curse.com, its for addons for games. and when i downloaded it, and opened it, it said setup.exe has stopped working, and all i could do is click close program. and i tried again, same thing. and now, every website i go to says to download a different program which will most likely fix the problem. so i download the program, and scan, and click fix all, then it says i have register and provide a license key. problem is, every time i try to register for one of the programs, they turn out being over 60$ and up. im 16, i dont have a paypal, or a credit card, and there is no way in hell my parents would pay that, so there goes that option. i have vista, whenever an update is available, i always update. using windows updater already install on my laptop. i have an hp pavilion dv7 i believe. now im just looking for a solution for this setup.exe error FOR FREE PLZ. thank you.
